Art of the Lion King (part 1)

The Lion King is an animated musical film produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation and released by Walt Disney Pictures. It is the 32nd Disney animated feature film, and the fifth animated film produced during a period known as the Disney Renaissance. The Lion King was directed by Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff, produced by Don Hahn, and has a screenplay credited to Irene Mecchi, Jonathan Roberts, and Linda Woolverton. Its original songs were written by composer Elton John and lyricist Tim Rice, with a score by Hans Zimmer. The pictures on this page are a collection of artworks created for this movie.


THE STORY

After being anointed as the next king of the jungle, young lion prince Simba is every bit as eager to take his proud father Mufasa's place as the king. But when Mufasa is suddenly murdered by Simba jealous and villainous uncle Scar, he feels responsible for his death and runs away from home. Meeting up with two outcasts named Timon and Pumbaa, Simba embraces their ways of 'Hakuna Matata'. Years later, approached by his childhood friend Nala and the wise baboon Rafiki, Simba must return home to stop Scar's evil reign and fulfill his destiny as the new king…
