Art of Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water

Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water is an animation series created by NHK, Toho and Korad, from a concept of Hayao Miyazaki, and directed by Hideaki Anno. The story was inspired by the works of Jules Verne, particularly Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea and the exploits of Captain Nemo. The pictures on this page are a collection of artworks created for this series.

THE STORY

In an alternate universe 1889, Nadia, a 14-year-old girl of unknown origins, and Jean, a young, warmhearted French inventor, are chased by Grandis Granva, Sanson, and Hanson, a group of jewel thieves who pursue Nadia for the blue jeweled pendant she possesses. After being rescued by Captain Nemo and his submarine, the Nautilus, the jewel thieves and the young protagonists join forces and participate in the struggle against a mysterious enemy who seek to dominate the world...
