Art of the Iron Giant (part 1)

The Iron Giant is an animation movie produced by Warner Bros. Feature Animation and directed by Brad Bird in his directorial debut in 1999. The story was based on the 1968 novel The Iron Man by Ted Hughes (which was published in the United States as The Iron Giant) and was scripted by Tim McCanlies from a story treatment by Bird. The pictures on this page are a collection of artworks created for this movie.


THE STORY

A giant alien robot crash-lands near the small town of Rockwell, Maine, in 1957. Exploring the area, Hogarth, a local 9-year-old boy, discovers the robot and soon forms an unlikely friendship with him. When a paranoid government agent, Kent Mansley, becomes determined to destroy the robot, Hogarth and beatnik Dean McCoppin must do what they can to save the misunderstood machine..
